Wargaming developers are working on a new map again. Last year we already got a few sneak peaks to new maps they were working on and we know that a sneak peak is not a certainty of getting new maps in the near future. But the fact that they release videos for prototypes is in fact good news, right? At least they aren’t sitting in their studios doing nothing.
This new map has the codename Guilin. The map seems to be in an Asian style and is suited for Random Battles. It’s 1000 by 1000 meters wide and it resembles a bit the current Lakeville map.
But … the developers also said that this map may only be available for certain regions. Like f.e. ASIA servers who would get their “Empire’s Borders” map replaced by it. Also this map isn’t made in HD yet and the real fate is yet to be determined.
Guilin is an urban district in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of China, on the banks of the Lijiang River. Guangxi’s location, in mountainous terrain in the far south of China, has placed it on the frontier of Chinese civilization throughout much of China’s history. The current name “Guang” means “expanse” and has been associated with the region since the creation of Guang Prefecture in 226 AD. It was given provincial level status during the Yuan dynasty, but even into the 20th century it was considered an open, wild territory.
